I'm wearing a deep eggplant vintage inspired dress, and the bride has "suggested" I become out the marcel moving ridge fe. Which is fine. But I'm not sure what to do makeup-wise, since the style seems to call for the traditional scarlet lips, etc., but reddish lips with a purple dress sounds scary looking. Any suggestions, color-wise?

I think the correct red lipstick, more berry than tomato red, would wait smashing with eggplant. I wearable a lot of eggplant and burgundy and I like to wear either a medium rose lipstick or a deeper drupe red with information technology. I'm sure you're going to look smashing.

The right red could work. I accept a sheer, berry-cerise lipstick that I used to wear with precious stone-toned purple tops. (I say "used to wear" considering those tops don't fit anymore!) Information technology's Neutrogena's Moisture Sheer in "Cherry-red Bliss".

MAC's "Glam" lipstick has a pinker undertone to it and I wear it with many clothing items that wouldn't await good with a traditional red. Sometimes I mix it with pink, as well. Yous could also but attempt a regular pink lipstick - information technology's withal vintage accurate, you know!

I could do a drupe-that'south a color that works well when I exercise regular modern makeup. I was almost thinking I should go the opposite road and endeavour a cracking coral to contrast with the purple?

I'd agree with most of the ladies above and say get for a maroon-y/berry lipstick and don't exist afraid to try plummy coloured eyeshadow either. That'due south a very menstruation manner to match your makeup to a marcel wave in a 20s/30s way and should work for well-nigh whatsoever eye color.

I would say that a neutral eye makeup (biscuit base shadow, taupe in crease, black eyeliner), absurd toned calorie-free blush (MAC Dame) and a cool toned lipstick (MAC Russian Red, Makeup Store Devil, Besame Red) and you're good to go!

This wait is gorgeous!
I don't at all recollect that red lips and imperial wear are scary together! Depends on your coloring, but if y'all tin can wear an eggplant color apparel, so you can besides article of clothing the red lipstick with information technology!

Dita von Teese is lovely. I sometimes wish I had nighttime hair so I could pull off such a dramatic look!

I besides meant to say that I don't think (on myself!) that I would go with a too berry colored lipstick, it would match the wearing apparel also much and wouldnt stand out like a beautiful pair of red lips would..

Why is she always and then lovely looking,
anyway I think a dita mode brand up is perfect with purple dresses I wearable a lot of imperial and at the moment I own only ane cherry-red lipstick (cleaning up onetime stuff) and information technology is russian red by MAC.

this might be too late
merely i was in deep purple at my sisters wedding ceremony....
please ignore the glassy, stoney eyes, i was all kinds of high on some sicky sicky cold pills :/ merely IMO red lips looks good with purple as red is in purple.

So, I've got my lip and cheeks worked out- now I'thou stymied with heart-makeup. I'g wearing a very deep berry (better on me than true red) and a LOT of very pinkish blush. (Silk naturals in Tarte Light) Should I leave my eyes blank? Smokey eye? Purple? I don't like liquid liner on me (I accept very round eyes and information technology just isn't my near flattering await). It'southward an evening nuptials if that makes a departure.
I should probably add that I'm strawberry blonde with blue optics and very very pale pinkish skin. And so I don't take the contrast of dark hair/dark eyes/stake skin like the lovely Dita.

I would do gray on the eyes, to be cool and cooperative with the purple and a touch more than "there" in photos than natural browns, if that makes sense.
I tend to wear a couple of shades of gray at in one case, mixing eyeshadows, with i of them really being adequately bluish, but toned down by the others. With an eggplant clothes you could use a touch on of violet and then the grays/silvers so the royal is almost subliminal, not WOW PURPLE EYES JUST LIKE MY Apparel which would exist scary.
And for y'all I would skip the eyeliner, just exercise the shadow and some black mascara. You might even do brown-black mascara usually, since you lot're so light (I am too) but I remember I'd glam it upward only a touch with some blackness mascara.

A grey or dakr brown liner would look good on y'all. It doesn't have to exist liquid, only you'll probably need to wear some sort of eyeliner. Especially as the wedding ceremony is in the evening, but also because wedding photos make people wait so stark.
If you're going with a dramtic lip, I'd say get more neutral on your heart. Browns would be a condom bet, and I believe brownish eyeshadow compliments blue eyes. Almay makes a color organization for specific heart colors which includes shadow, liner, and mascara. You could always utilize the 1 for blueish optics if yous really become stumped.

I vote for shadow no liner, 1 vote for liner no shadow. :eusa_doh: I do need to exist cautious with night liner- with my face shape and coloring it can brand me look kinda geisha with the red lips and pink blush.
Fake eyelashes?

I would go greyness shadow with a little purple. No liner, it sounds too heavy for your coloring (and I know what you hateful most the round optics - I accept them too, and can never wear liquid liner).
And I say yep to the false eyelashes, simply not too huge of ones. It's easy to become over the line from wedding to caricatural stage.
Don't forget to take pictures for us!

Have y'all idea nearly gold? When fall comes around, golden toned makeup looks lovely on most complexions. And with purple...it's like BAM! I would suggest a vintage style makeup...a neutral base on the hat with a shimmery brown in the crease. Then a deep plum or black liquid liner, winged out slightly. For the cheeks, I'd do a combination of a bronzer and a plummy pink and then a ruddy with aureate flecks for the lips. It will all have a very dewy effect but still look smooth and classic.
Hmmm, perhaps I'll do a tutorial...haha!
